Irony

Longterm readers will understand how ironic it is that I finally got this ornament from my parents to hang on my tree. This ornament, from a birthday when I was a kid, was while I was still O.K. with raccoons.

Belated. . .

I’d make a horrible Dad. I know it. Know why? Got any clues? Well, in 2006 on 10-25 at 9:57 P.M. I posted my first article here on Brickblog. Why, I remember when this blog was still in diapers, I was excited to get 1 visit after posting oh so many articles. To date, I’m [...]

Squirrel Catapult

A friend sent me the wmv of this yesterday, I found the you tube post of the same thing. I’ve been thinking about making one ever since I saw this cool @$$ video yesterday.

Raccoons v.s. Fence Act II

Well it seems to me that we should have 4 acts to this saga, as we have 4 raccoons. However I’m only leaving the camera up tonight as the last night. Tonight will mark a full week and 3 nights of surveillance, and although it’s been fun, it will be nice to have a dark [...]

Raccoons v.s. Electric Fence

Well it’s not as exciting as we had hoped. Clearly the first night, they sent a scout, as they always do when things change. The second night they returned to see what they could get for food. It appears that either they are not well grounded, or have a higher tolerance for electrical shock then [...]

Mommy, my mouth tastes like burning rubber

When I awoke sometime near 12:30 am this morning, I was startled awake by what [...]

While we wait. . .

Well now it’s a waiting game. The fence is set, the motion lights are in place, and the camera eagerly awaits the arrival of our ‘friends.’ On the way home last night I saw one of them on the side of the road near our house eating some garbage someone had dumped from their car. [...]

The fence is in!

Today we installed the electric fence. Amanda and I worked on driving the 3 6’ ground rods into the ground and I put in a post for the feeder and surrounded it in electric fence. Like any good project, we ended up running to Agway, and Home Depot, AKA The Po, AKA The place that [...]

After a week of cease fire, they strike.

Anyone following the early days of my blog will know I’m dealing with a small raccoon problem. It’s been a week since I have heard from them, and I think just maybe they were lulling me in to a false sense of hope. Waiting quietly in the bushes for their next assault. [...]

It Came!

When I got home from work today the Patriot P20 had arrived, only 2 days after ordering it w/ free S&H! Props to these guys for sure.
The Patriot P20 is a bright and shiny electric fence charger. This little bugger will run off ac or dc power providing 2 joules of shocking power over 50 [...]
