Rigid or Dewalt

In our many, many trips to Home Depot in the last few days, I couldn’t stop laughing. Not chuckling, all out COULDN’T TALK LAUGHING. I wish I had some sort of camera with me. I kid you not, an employee was putting together a 15% off Rigid drills promo display. What was he using to put it together? A Dewalt. Yep. Guess old Homer said “Rigid is just fine for all you suckers, but when there is work to be done, we’re using Dewalt.”

Just sayin’

  1. Dewalt = Default, the tool I buy when I need something good and dependable.

Porter Cable and Milwaukee when I want it to be the last tool of its kind I buy and then leave it to someone in a will.

Rigid and Ryobi for when I need a tool that costs less than a tank of gas and lasts just as long. Although my Rigid shop vac has been a trooper for several years now.

  2. I have to agree, although I am very happy with my 12″ Ryobi chop saw so far.

    Love the Dewalt drills.
Got to go Porter Cable for a circular saw.
And hell, who can argue with Milwaukee Sawzalls. ;-)

  3. Dead on… I have some “simple” Ryobi stuff, like a 3.6 volt electric screwdriver. It does fine, but when it comes to “real” stuff, DeWalt, Porter-Cable, Milwaukee, etc. Some of my faves:

    Dewalt sliding compound chopsaw
    Dewalt (Englo) compressor
Milwaukee Sawzall (don’t waste your money on the big ones, get the $99 one, it does everything you could want)
Milwaukee 1/2 inch drill with right angle attachment 1 inch bit = no problem!
    Porter Cable circular saw
